So I've been meaning to ask this but on the canister next to the wiper res there are three lines coming out. Mine only has two and I'm wondering what goes there. Here's a pic. This is a 97 discovery SD.

What I'm asking is what hose is missing off that top nipple. It has not. Been there since I bought the truck. Is it a breather or something

 

I think there are just the two lines, I'll look at mine when offspring brings it home from college. Just saw two in the RAVE page 191 of 873 workshop manual.

 

in the rave manual pg 203 of 873 diagram #j6040 shows the canister and the 2 lines as well as the 3 outlet with nothing attached. Im wondering is there supposed to be a line there? i also took a picture of it and its on the first post. Just seems strange to have a flanged outlet pipe but no real reason for it.

 

vent - so that some air can be drawn it as well I guess.

 

Mine has a rubber vac cap blocking it off, as do all the others I have seen.
