I think OKDISCO has a very valid point.

They are still just a pig wearing a pretty dress.

It would be a good daily driver only if you don't really have anywhere you have to be that day.

Buy it ,you might enjoy it.

Offer him Fifty Bucks Cash Money.
i can only prevent something from breaking for so long before it needs parts, which it never got, i stalled something breaking for as long as i could.

I think that Fifty Bucks may even be too much to pay for that one.

As the guys will tell you I am a glutton for punishment with these.
I bought a running, almost 95 for $1,500.00. I have spent $250.00 and it runs great now, looks like heck, Sorry Mutley. It had 174,000 when I bought it now iy is a 186,000, 3 trips to Florida.
I also bought a 96 for $500.00 is is an SE that needs a transfer case. 231,000 on the clock.
I will tell you that the guys are spot on with the advise. You can by great, maintained, garage queens from original owners that are being sold due to high miles and nothing else. The Range Rover I bought was that way and is about as perfect a unit as you can find.
Bottom line, for FREE or $50.00 MIGHT be to much since finding a GOOD engine and then all the other parts. There is a D1 in Aiken S.C. that I looked at with 86,000 ran out great but needed the front end done and tires. He wanted $2,800.00 for it I offered $1,200.00 and no response.
Wife like her LR3 better than the BMW so she sold the Bimmer.

If you got it absolutely rock bottom, you could still spend a fortune just trying to get it on the road, much less a daily driver unless you have nowhere to be each day.

You could make a little money possibly parting out anything good and selling the rest for scrap, after all it is an aluminum body but I have no idea how much you could get. Any more than a few hundred would surpise me.

You see them almost everywhere with prices really varying. There is one on CL here that the guy claims he paid 11K for it a year ago, he has dropped his asking price from 1500 to 1000 or B/O. I may go see it.
