Power steering leak, but not sure if it's the steering box?

Off topic, I got the Check Engine light read, and it was stored engine misfire. Got the Discovery booked for a tune up with a garage that only deals with Land Rovers, can anyone suggest anything else to prevent another misfire?

I am having the engine professionally cleaned next week and all parts that were undercoated that should not have been cleaned. I want to be able to try and see where exactly this leak is coming from. The cost of the repair doesn't bother me, but if it's leaking from a hose, that makes my life easier.

Ours has the same exact look to the steering box, caked full of fluid. I doubt its the box, the hoses are good for leaking under the reservoir and running down onto the steering box. After a while things build up and and a little leak starts to look like a big problem. Could be oil as well or a combination of the two. Ours leaks a little bit of everything on the steering box. Oil, power steering fluid and transmission fluid. You really need to clean everything so you can spot the leak. I'd certainly make sure I knew where it was coming from before coughing up a grand to fix something that may not be broken.

I took Clover to a Land Rover specialist to tell me exactly where the leak is coming from, and after a 45 minute wait and to my relief he informed me that the hoses and reservoir need to be replaced and that will end the leaking.

Were they able to give a reason why the reservoir needed to be changed? It's not a part with a lot of moving parts. Is it cracked?

If I were paying for this repair I would have them show me why the resv needed to be changed.

The gentleman at the shop, said there is a very small hairline crack in it and the filter is probably dirty. It fizzed up like a pop bottle last Saturday, ran it up to the specialist, and he said that could be a factor along with the hoses in the fizz up of the power steering fluid.
