odd. it looks like it would be pretty easy just to drop it from the bottom. rave says to undo the tie rod bolts and move it out of the way.

I really can't say what issue I had but after about 5 minutes of unsuccessfully messing with it while laying under neath it with my brother supporting it from above he says "I think we can maneuver it out from the top" it took about a minute to get it out from above. just be ready because it is pretty heavy for being in an awkward location!

I would imagine if you remove the bracket that the 2 bolts secure to at the bottom it will probably come out but I left that bolted in place.

This item is blocked from canadian buyers....

Just thought about something concerning my truck. Last week, I took off 1/2 an inch from the ends of the rubber power steering hoses and clamped them in place with new clamps hoping it would stop it from leaking. Topped off ps reservoir with atf and bled the system. But since I did it I experience more bumpsteer. What can cause that?

often times if you contact the seller through Ebay email and tell them you will buy it if they relist it for international sales they will. All it should mean to the seller is they have to fill out a customs declaration form at the post office and for you it means higher shipping costs.

as for your question I have no idea, I don't even know what "bumpsteer" is!

It usually happens with bigger tires or off-road.... anyways bump steer is when you drive over a bump and the truck steers by itself. It's not dangerous in my case because it happens only at low speeds.

I knew I had seen a video somewhere of someone removing the box. Granted, theirs is on a TDI, and they have a lift, but they do make it look easy!

I'm going to get the A1 Cardone reman. for $369.00 will let you know how it works out when it is installed. Tried to get it local at Carquest and Napa but both said the reman. sources are out of them. So I have to get it online. Wish me luck... 36k - 3 year warranty. Will let you know if I have any problems with the supplier. Never used them before... Checked the A1 Cardone website and part #s match up.

I won't be doing it myself. Will take it to the shop and have them do it, as well as all the power steering hoses while they're in there. Getting that kit from AB as well as the steering ball joint kit to have them do too.

So steering system will get some needed attention in a couple weeks when I get back from Hawaii. Hopefully the steering box won't blow out on me on my way to Denver airport tomorrow morning! But with the luck I've had this summer I wouldn't doubt it...
