Power Window Issue
I finally did some door exploration to get my front passenger window working properly again.
It would go down, but would need human assistance to go back up again. A couple of weeks ago, I accidentally rolled it all the way down. When trying to get it back up, there was no movement and I heard a clank sound.
Anyway, I got in and found (expectedly) one of the regulator rollers was done. I finagled a new one with nylon washers and got it back together. It seemed to work fine with no load. However, when I bolt the window back to it, it will go down, but not up. When I push the switch up, the motor turns (I can see this cause that protective cap popped off) but the window wont go up.
Couple other things...
- I can pull and push the window up and down by hand.
- When the window goes to the bottom, the motor continues to run for another 5 sec or so before stopping
Is this a bad motor, bad regulator, or both?

Im pretty sure it is making good contact. It takes some effort to slide the window up and down when it is attached to the regulator.
Ill undo everything again though just to be sure and then post a vid of the action.

Naw, if anything there is too much play. It certainly isnt ideal, but i only replaced one roller as the other was ok. Also, the mechanism works fine when the window isnt bolted to it, other than the fact the motor continues to run when it hits bottom.
Something is out of adjustment, when I had mine apart I noticed that if I had the window "start" in the wrong spot the regulator would try and go down farther than it needed and run off of the half moon gear.
It took some playing around with to get it right.

So, I need a new motor.
Actually, the motor is fine. The problem is that the rubber donut attaching the gear which the motor turns to the gear driving the regulator basically exploded.

The metal cap covering the gears had already popped off before I went in there.

Yeah.
On the bright side, I found a couple threads on other forums describing the exact same symptoms, but none of 'em really answered what caused it.
At least there's a photo floating around of the "why" now
