meh I think you are going to have to put money in no matter what I so think the less you can spend up front the better but thats just my opinion and we all know what they say about those

 

generally hasnt been my experience with used cars, but some people enjoy spending $1000 up front, then another $1000 every month or two for a couple months plus many weekends getting things straightened out and fixing the PO's mistakes.... rather than spending $2500 or 3k up front.


i try to buy the best example of whatever car im after as possible... it seems the delta between good and bad on these trucks is slim enough that it doesnt become unaffordable to buy a clean example right out of the gate. unless you have to have one this weekend...

 

I agree with you in most cases, I would just see what service records he has and get a carfax to find any and all info you can on previous owners service history
