Anybody just buy a landrover and drop a random diesel in it? Isuzu, chrysler, 6.2 GM etc? It has to be doable. I just meet a guy who put an 82 ford straight six in a liberty and it got me to thinking.

Somebody had an listing for a disco with a 6.2 in it a little while ago on one of these diesel threads. It's mostly a cost benefit issue though... like with everything. Once you put that big engine in there then you gotta upgrade everything down stream. I think there should be a whole new section on this forum called diesel dreaming.

A 6.2 is a lot of weight on the front of a rover..

People do it all the time, but it still costs tons of money, you can buy a used Isuzu cab over for under $1000, strip the engine and ecu and go to town, but you are still looking at well over $5000 when all said and done.
Or you can rebuild your engine for dirt cheap, hell, you can buy a used LR engine for $500 if you look hard enough, and it runs and takes you 2 days to swap.

I agree with Spike, ****** up a used LR motor, freshen it up and drop it in would be most straightforward with least overall changes required.
