Purchasing a 98 Disco
Asking way to much, Hell I'll sell you my 97 Se7 V81 for 3k. It's in "fair" shape, and is my daily driver. The seats area little worn, it's got 100k original miles on it and needs a little love in the paint area (paint on the hood is messed up.) Local shop here in Chattanooga quoted 900 for complete repaint and fixing any/all body work including a little rusting around the roof area. So you would have 3900 bucks in one that basically looks and drives like new.
No oil leaks, air works, (duel front and rear) The only issue I can really say about it it one of the rear jumper seats had oil or something spilled on it long before I got it, and is stained from it, but you could easily find another. I don't use them.
Food for thought.
Oh, and I'm not really interested in selling it. I love this truck and like I said, it's my daily driving. But I do still have my 96 and I would take that 3k and make it even nicer.

That 97 for 3K sounds good, I woudn't want to sell mine that low.
I saw a 2003 on the local CL for 7 grand.: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/cto/1959344541.html
There was also a 95 full size Bronco Eddie Bauer on there for 2500 that looked great and hard to beat at that price.
But anything you see, look it over good before you bite. Just shows there are a lot of different ones out there with prices varying significantly.

Basically screwing that guy. (I know cause the guy he sold it to ended up calling me over a title issue but there was nothing I could do as I had already dropped the registration for it in my state so his only recourse was to get with the guy that sold it to him)Basically, you really have to get history on these truck, well, ANY used car you buy as there are a lot of crooks out there.
But, like I said in my post above. My 97 is really not for sale... If someone walked up to me with 3k cash in hand, I would let it go just to make my 96 3k nicer but other than theses posts about it you will never see that offer anywhere else lol.
My wife really wants me to just take it in and spend the 900 bucks on it to make it nice for her.
Own and here is a 2002 SE7 for 6500 loaded from a dealer, meaning you could talk the price down...

He said he was leaving for Canada soon in the Air Force, I think his main concern is not having problems initially. Sounds like a dream wish. Maybe you really need to reconsider any Discovery meeting those criteria.
I have not gone over to check it out yet, but I was thinking about buying it as I need a new (bigger) family hauler. I have a 3rd due in March. 3 car seats will not go into my 97 Se7, but my oldest (4) is on a booster and could ride the jumper seat in the 02. (I would not put her in the side facing jumper of the 97)
In my case it would not be off roaded, But when we get a dusting of snow a 4x4 is required to get up the road to my house. I may just go over there on Monday and take a really close look at it/test drive it and see what the full story is.
