I checked my copy of the RAVE but I didn't have any wiring diagrams. I've installed an aftermarket stereo I had laying around but it loses memory and power every time the ignition is turned off. I have the 12v constant (yellow) connected to the green and orange wire and the 12v switched (red) connected to the solid purple wire, both on the harness ending in a grey 8 pin connector. I'm thinking I have them switched but this is how the Metra harness was laid out. Also, solid red and the blue and yellow wires aren't connected, is this correct?

Sounds like you have them backwards

 

Yep, that's what it sounds like.

The wiring diagrams are the pdf file titled "etlj970x" (for a 97 - 98), you can get the whole download in my signature, or an on-line source of section by section.

Here a single page of that. The P wire (purple) is 12 volt un-switched. The Light Green & Orange wire is 12 volts switch by ignition. RN (Red Brown) is dash lights. B (black) is ground.

But the RAVE shows various diagrams based on year and VIN.
