It's looking like I might need a lower rad hose and I see a couple listed. Big difference is whether or not I have an evaporative loss system. I looks like North American versions did have this system or am I reading this incorrectly?

I'd go to one of the rover parts people, for new parts. Atlantic British, British Pacific, Rovers North, Rovahfarm, BPUTAH.com, ptschram, etc. I bought a set of URO brand hoses from rockauto.com (much cheaper than the price on that website you posted) and they are of VERY poor quality.

 

OK, good advice but I still need to know which one I need...there's about a $40 diff in price (not to mention possible fitment issues).

advanced evap came around mid 1997. You'll want the hose that's NOT for that.

AtlanticBritish is a great site, not just for parts but tech tips too.
Make sure you replace all of your coolant hoses at the same time, if one is bad the other are not far behind.
AB sells hose kits, thats what I did.

 

I did the same thing- lower and upper uropart hoses from rockauto- lower hose lasted ALMOST a year.

 

With a near 18 year old vehicle, I would recommend you replace all your hose if they haven't been replaced before, other wise you ar going to keep loosing hoses and possibly over heat your engine.
