Radio Code Issue
I know im probably beating a dead bush but, i dosconnected the battery to do some maintenance now my radio has the code screen. I went to the service center and got a code from the guys but the way he showed me to put it in did not work, i have looked all over and have seen a 1000 different ways to to do it. Can some one here give me a def step by step instruction on how to properly enter the 5 digit code from start to finish, it would be greatly appreaciated.
There is a good chance that the code they gave you was the wrong one for the radio. Especially if at some point the radio was switched. To enter the code you have to turn the car on and just enter the code. If you enter it wrong I think you have to wait an hour or something, but if you enter it correct and it didn't work you need to pull the radio out and get the serial number from the radio and have them look it up that way.
You may also have a dead battery in the radio so it will not except a code. Try leaving the radio on while driving it so the old battery might recharge, if it doesn't help, then it is time for a new radio.
step by step... turn vehicle on, turn radio on. should hear a 'beeeep' and the word "CODE" should be on the radio screen. Enter 5 digit number (just press the 5 keys in sequence) and, if correct, a second beep should sound and operation should resume in a normal fashion.
Hi, all. This is my first post. I, too, have had the radio issue where it asks for the code, but when I give it the code (known to be the original), it wouldn't accept it. Following the advice of several posts around the Interwebz, I turned the radio on, drove to work (about 35 minutes), and when I got there, entered the code. It worked the first time. Apparently, there is something to the internal battery recharging long enough for you to get the code entered. Thereafter, the radio just works. One more problem solved on this new/old Disco I.
My battery went dead and now it won't accept the code I've used many times before. I originally entered the wrong number a few times but then found the correct one. I've waited an hour. Unhooked the battery, waited another hour but still it won't accept the good code. Whoever thought it was a good idea to put a security code in a crappy stock radio should be shot.
dealer would not give me the code they made me call land rover who made me fax a copy of the vehicle title in my name with a copy of my DL to give up the code, the way they said to enter the code did not work the above mentioned did, you may have the wrong code
Disco 1997 SE7 my battery was disconnected by service guy to install new battery! Now the Eurovox 7479 radio will not accept the security code. It does not display CODE on the screen just the symbol 1 I am going to disconnect and reconnect the battery to se if that will reboot the system tried leaving the radio and electrics on for 5-6 hours to try and clear it! Any Ideas?
