Radio install??
So my center dash area/radio section is cracking and breaking away, so much so that the stock unit would no longer sit in there nicely. I've got a new aftermarket headunit to install, but I cant fathom a way to mount it in the dash opening, since there is nowhere to attach the skeleton cage thing that comes with the unit(if that makes sense)
Anyone know what I'm referring to? Ideas? It doesnt have to be super pretty, just functional!

Do you listen to the radio? Other than amplification control and accepting an input (RCA cords/Bluetooth), what do you want the head unit to do?
I'd just install an amp with a bluetooth capabilities and/or bluetooth adapter of some kind and use the space for an OBD screen.

I do enjoy the radio but can live without it and have for some time, but im actually fixing it to get the car ready for sale since a big gaping hole in the dash aint to appealing to buyers. I've upgraded(I think its an upgrade) to an 04 a few months back and am selling my 96
I'm aware of the engine potential woes, which is why it got a full rebuild when I picked it up. I'm also not too worried about the resources needed to replace the motor if it comes to that in the future. The added power of the 4.6 and the nive amenities of a well optioned 04 add up to a much nicer driving experience than my old clapped out 96
Got a laugh out of me...... The cage should've come with a couple of 90* tabs (one for each side) but if it didn't that's how I mounted it to the dash internal frame to hold the radio in place. Don't have pics, one of the more mundane tasks I performed on my Disco. Heck you could use trimmed metal drywall corner bead to secure the cage.
