Cool, my ECU Board had one solder joint that had a hairline fracture that was only visible if you applied finger tip pressure to the component lead, then it lifted away from the solder pad, so I reflowed all the solder joints that I could easily reach.

A new ECU is way expensive from the dealer and they take the old one and just recycle them. They quoted over $600 for an ECU.

I always try to verify as much as possible to avoid the frustation of removing good parts only to have to replace them.

I have read about the rollers self destructing over the years since they are just plastic aren't they? I have seen threads of replacing them with generic type items available at Lowe's or HD for just a few bucks. Do a search on here.

Approach it methodically and learn to enjoy the challenge. Find pleasure in small victories. And always observe the proper ritual of offering praises to the Rover Gods prior to, during and after all attempts to fix anything.

Face the Sun, Bow Deeply 3 times while chanting " Please Rover Gods, Don't Let Me Do Anything To Destroy My Rover Today" They will smile upon you.

Of course your neighbors may not understand..............

Here are some pictures of the latest problem. Is there a way to get the roller back in (it's not broken) without removing the motor? And yes, there is still no power to the window.

Well, if anyone has that problem in the picture above here is how you fix it. Unscrew the four motor support bolts. I think they were 10mm. Unscrew the upper arm restrictor on the left side of the door panel and disengage. It will drop down. The whole apparatus is then loose and you can move it around such that the lower arm can then be slid back into its restrictor. Then reinstall the reverse. The hardest part is getting the upper restrictor back in its groove. To get the 4 motor support bolts back in lift the window up about two inches from the bottom and it will then line up.

If that doesn't work well, you may have to proceed to the Ceremony Of Fire and Ice and offer Sacrifices to the Gods.........

Build a good fire from hardwood and smoke a pig over it, ice down some real good brew.

Don't be afraid to have naked girls dance around the fire as the evening wears on..............

Reviving:
Had the same thing happen to me this weekend. Front windows were fine for years. I solder / fix the rear windows issue and they now work perfect. Testing front and rear during the process and all is fine. Next day, driver side window doesn’t work. Open and slammed the door and it started working. Now it’s intermittent at best. Up is fine, up always works. Down does not. Find that highly highly coincidental that it’s fine for years and 12 hours post ECU fix it goes bad. Tested switch and it’s fine.
Anyone know which solder point relates to driver side (1997 NAS Disco) window?

On the cruise control module, I could see the bad solder using a magnifying glass. It shows up as a dark ring around the wire. Usually the solder is very thin at the bad connections. Other alternative is to reflow them all.
