Smile Red Service Engine Light

Hi all, my service engine light is on in red color for Disco I 1997. I went to Land Rover dealer to reset the light and they told that i need to pull out the relay that is in the kick box by the passenger front seat. They told me that red color means to check gas emissions, is this info right please let me know thanks.

By the way my Disco is running perfect.

Felipe

Yep. remove the relay, and throw it away.

click here to see what it looks like but just ignore that reset. You don't need it.

No need for it. Just a light that is supposed to remind you to spend money at the dealer.

Default Wait a second...

Won't just yanking it and throwing it away leave the light on the dash?

Reset it first, use a paper clip and poke it through the small hole hidden by the Land Rover sticker on the top and make a connection with two small posts inside the relay. Once you've got the light off THEN yank it and throw it away - otherwise I suppose you can pull the bulb - but it would be easier to reset it right before you yank it.

If by yanking it the light turns off then ignore this altogether! But it's annoying having a dash light on...

Yes. The box is what turns the light on. If you remove it, the light goes out, forever.
