Default Reset Engine Service Light

Any of you D1 owners that have a California delivered Disco know how to manually reset the Engine Service light that comes on every 52,500 miles for the oxygen sensor replacement reminder ?

Just unplug it and toss it in the trash. It is located in the passenger side footwell on the right side. Will not affect anything.

Yep that little device made LR some serious $$$ back in the day. Light would come on, LR would be driven around into the service bay, tech would remove kick panel, insert paper clip and send it on it's way. Meanwhile charging 250.00 on average to reset it. Find it, remove it, and forget about it

When I got my 97 XD the red Service Engine Light would flicker and act downright strange. I finally had time to remove the kick panel, and remove the entire relay. I tore it open and the rather large battery inside it had corroded the PCB badly and it just had a mind of it's own. Tossed it in the LR collectible bin and went on with my business

I took the kick panel off on the passenger footwell - there are two plastic finish screws - I located the brown TRW module on the top row of modules and unclipped it from the slide mount and found the Land Rover tamper tape that already had a hole in it from the 52,500 service the dealer did and inserted a small punch into the hole while the ignition was in the on position and light extinguished. I decided to leave the module in as I will probably be dead before it makes it another 52,500 miles

The battery inside will eventually leak out, and corrode the pcb. When you have some crazy SEL light action = it's dead. Serves absolutely no purpose lol.
