Default rocker cover gaskets

hi

Finally got around to fitting the new gaskets to the rocker covers, the RH side was first up, had to remove leads, various pipes at access the cover and remove, cleaned the inside up a bit as it is full off the rover gunk/sludge, no point getting to fussy...

then pulled the LH side rocker cover off, after removing plenum leads and air intake tube etc, the gasket turns out was the wrong one that the previous knuckle head had fitted as per pic, no wonder i could not get the thing to seal,

put it all back together but not started it yet, waiting for the plenum joint to cure up a bit, am interested to see if the idle is affected as it would be letting shedloads of air in thru the motor, makes me cringe as i have been driving this thru sand dunes etc. what got sucked into the motor i wonder.......

great pix - not so great prior work by persons unknown. Did you use new gaskets or just a compound to make in place gaskets, if so which one?

yup she aint no show pony on the inside, apart from a full strip down and swim in a caustic tank there aint alot i can do about that.

As for gaskets i got the rubber versions and fitted them dry, no sealer
