shift linkage stuck in drive

it was the clip under the shifter cover. it was fixed in 10 seconds....and then it wouldn't start! tried everything, figured the juice running through the system while the key was on last night fried something. then it decided to start.....quirky is right

You have saved my life! Ok, probably a slight exaggeration but without your tip I would have been stuck halfway up a Spanish mountain in my 21 year old Discovery. We're in the middle of a roadbook trip through the Pyrenees with the family on board. Much panic when the vehicle wouldn't change gear or start when you are about 20km from anything like civilization. The small clip had indeed popped off and effectively stopped 2.2 tons of 4x4 in its tracks. Thanks so much!!!

8 year old thread and it saved the mans life. Ain’t that something.

Got any pics of the LR in the Pyrenees? I would love to see those!
