I replace with nylocs. Only thing I use loctite on is the drive flange bolts and pinion flange bolts. Never had anything come loose and loctite on everything makes life a bitch to take it apart.

Yeah there's a good reason they used nylocs and castle nuts.

I do agree...but lots of manufactures use lock washers. On things like the driveshaft I would definitely use the locknuts. But then again on every single domestic truck there are u-bolts on the driveshaft held on by a regular nut and bolt.

I hit the junkyard by my work ... found they had 4 (actually 5) disco's in the yard, unfortunately they didnt have much left to pick..

I did grab a few things tho:
2 vss's ... figured it couldn't hurt they charged 2.50 for each

and an antenna wire +booster from a d2 that had the USA style antenna plug and the am/fm booster! since I have the headliner out it'll be an easy swap and I will have terrestrial radio once again woohoo ...

Was disappointed had a shopping list of things I need but have yet to find, maybe next time lol

I sold my 63 Mercury. So i was able to clean out the garage to make room for the truck. Hit the undercarriage again w the power washer. Pulled it in and setting up for the front end/swivel ball rebuild and reseal. Wish I could install my lift in here. It barely fits as is.

Default Popped in some new brake pads and hardware

Will add to the write up I started swapping the fluid and finding the broken hardware. New pads stop great they are ASP VGX which are sold by the warehouse I used to work for so got them free and thought I would put them to the test without a full rotor replace/surface already better. Will do rotors/pads/lines and bearings in the spring when I she how she runs the snow.

This thread has been neglected for almost a day.... lol

i'm happy put in my rebuilt VSS and cleared codes, speedo is working again! And no codes thus far. Old VSS from the truck had quite a bit of slop though not much in the way of shavings inside the thing. I happened to find the perfect washer at ace, it was in the "finishing" washer section, had the right size hole and had a shaft going downwards .. it fit snug enough in the grooves without having to trim at all. I'll snag another and post a pic / specs.

Also ran my new antenna cable (from the 03 disco at salvage yard) from the am/fm side to the radio.. TUNES AGAIN lol i've been missin the radio

also, the pass headlight magically started working again .... I had suspected it was a ground issue so we will see if it returns.

Gradually as the truck gets used more and more things are loosing up, the door locks are behaving better, doors are opening more freely etc. one thing's for sure it didnt like being left to rot for however long it was sitting
