The worst thing for these trucks is to not get used.

Got one side apart on the front end. Swivel ball almost bone dry. Really glad I tore this all down. Its getting new CV's so no worries. I degreased and power washed the spindle dust shield and ball itself. Hand dry and rubbed w oil so no flash rust. Painted the dust shield. Cleaned all the parts that I removed. Tossing around new rotors while I have them off.

I got my lift kit today in the mail. Man I'm so tempted to install it while the front end is apart... It barely fits in the garage at this height. I suppose I could let the air out of the tires..

replaced the upper and lower ball joints and two of the abs sensors and a alignment. Got the upper ball joints from o'really auto parts only took them a week to finally get me the right ball joint. first one went right through the hole see we new that wasn't going to work. then It did not arrive when it was suppose to for the second time. never getting anything from them again. to get the axle nuts torque to 360 ft lbs I had to go to a place in town where they work on big rigs, no mechanic in town had a torque wrench that would go over 250.

360 sounds like the torque setting for the hub nut on a D2.
Do you have a D2? If not you need to undo that ASAP.

The upper and lower ball joints gave it away for me.

If it's a axle nut that doesn't set any bearing preload (non-tapered bearings) or anything I usually don't worry too much about being exact. An impact that maxes out at 350ish ft/lbs or a 24" breaker bar and I just lift myself off the ground, stake the nut, and I'm good.

Default Oil Change

Changed the oil, used the PUROLATOR #L40316 from Advance and 2 gallons of Shell Rotella 15/40 diesel motor oil, I put in 1/2 a bottle of seafoam the day before and drove about 50 miles. The filter fits fine but that sucker does take a lot of clean oil and don't fill all the way, tip at the same angle it will be screwed in at so you don't waste a couple cups on the ground and put a pan under when you screw it in.

Ordered $250 worth of parts from Ballistic Fab and another $100 in steel.
Time to build my trailing arms!

Attn VULTURES: I'll have a set of RoverTracks cranked trailing arms with brand new frame bushings for sale soon.
