So what did you do to your Disco today?
I'd wrecked my D1 ("Crazy Red") last winter and it had sat a my friend's construction yard until now.
Despite the damage, and since it's one of the rare 5-speeds and I love driving this truck, there was no way I was going write it off and part it out. It's just too fun to drive compared to Disco's with an automatic.
Between this and my D2 (fan exploded...took whole cooling system and airbox...not due to motor mounts, but really not sure why yet...very little play in the water pump shaft, but there is some) I'm going to have a very busy couple weeks leading up to the Robesonia Trials and then Rovers on the Rocks...

So wheres the after picture? lol seems like you have a project on your hands , i'm curious what other things pop up as you are trying to fix this truck, was there any frame damage? If not you should be able to get front end pieces from a donor truck
You've taken a POS and made it something. Most take something and make a POS out of it.....thankfully or else we wouldn't have much to do with all of our free time and extra income. Hell, I'd be at the casino getting wasted and loosing my grocery money if it weren't for Rovers being neglected..... win/win for me.

And for those that don't I'm earning a healthy cash only second income.....those that don't, about 99%, I'm very grateful for. In every case so far.....oil black as coal. Cha-ching is all I have to say.

I agree with you, it's rewarding driving this truck that otherwise would have been off to the scrap heap. I am only starting to get into this scene but I have plenty of people that need assistance w/ other vehicles so I help when I can.
Today I visited some of its distant cousins and scored a pigtail and a few of the turn signal/bumper sockets (i needed 2, found 2 that were not scavenged yet) for 3$ now I can get the right side lights fixed finally
though, bone yard in the rain kinda sucks think i'll wait till its not raining next time lol
Replaced my original battery with a yellow top Optima, and also bought new positive and negative cables and wired it to the starter and chassis accordingly. You can definitely tell the difference when you start her up. Next on the list is to install the Defender brake calipers, rotors, and pads. And probably do the wheel bearings while I'm in there.

Ehhh dang I think we all end up doing more than we should with these beasts...

No frame damage. I pulled the major parts from a '94 that I have on hand for just such occasions. The toughest repairs have been tweaking the body work for the right headlight, and getting the rad core support to line up just right so the bonnet will latch.
The bonnet now latches, but the headlight bucket is going to require more work. As soon as I replace the burst brake line (unrelated to the accident), the truck will be back on the road.
My Marine Diehard in my D2 has been spectacular. IIRC, they do have a slightly smaller version if that a factor...
