So what did you do to your Disco today?

Tried out my new Autel AL619 and much to my disappointment it doesn't read ABS codes on my 1997 Discovery!!
I made sure to download the latest updates on the device's SD card but it only covers Discovery 1998-2004. WTF? I didn't realize the ABS module on the '97 was different than the '98.
Anyway, it works fine for ODBII stuff so not a total loss.
As for ABS, I did the blink test and got three different codes.
Code 2-6 - Faulty stoplight switch or wiring. Fuse A5
blown or not fitted :: This makes sense given the brake light switch has been acting up lately, locking the truck in park. I have a spare. Just need to swap it in.
Code 2-8 - No voltage to ABS
solenoid valves. Faulty valve relay or wiring :: Not sure about this one, but perhaps it's because I pulled the ABS pump fuse in the engine bay while troubleshooting the stuck ABS light?
Code 2-14 - Front left, too large an air gap or the sensor
has been forced out by exciter ring :: Sensor is seated as far as it will go. Suppose I need to by a new retainer thingy and start there before shelling out cash for a new sensor.
Land Rover maintenance items. The gift that keeps on giving.
Happy Holidays!

Ham Radio install
This month I installed both a 2m/440 and a cb radio. I used a fuse tap to get power from the accessory circuit at the main fascia fuse panel. Mounted a 1x2 wood strip to the dash in the center depression where the removable rubber tray was then mounted the radio brackets to the wood strip. Gutter mounted the cb antenna, using a mag mount for the 2m/440 rig.

I found that a new bushing and seal fixed this problem on mine. I recall that bputah had the bushings cheaper than most others ($7 vs $25) but can't seem to find them on the website today. I ordered mine from the UK.

Thx!

1998 was the first year of Disco II (just not in the US or NAS as far as I know). It's a bit confusing because 1999 is the last year of Disco I. The ABS codes can be read by a scanner on 1998-2004 Disco 2's, but the ABS codes on the 1995-1999 Disco 1's Wabco system are by blink code only (or possibly some LR tool).
My ABS sensors won't stay in offroad. If I tap them in with a wood drift, they seat near enough the exciter ring on the Birfield joints, but after I hit a few bumps, they pop up a mm or so. Maybe new bushings would keep them in, but I haven't found the ABS to do anything right even when it's code-free. I love ABS. The ABS on my wife's car works awesome, although I've never tried it offroad (not that kind of car). The WABCO system is a joke.
