Mountain Goat, excellent job!

Hey I just went and looked at the pics of your RR. My cousins brother in law let his wife talk him into one for their contractor's business car and her DD. Theirs was from Ascot Rolls Royce of Pittsburgh.

Every year they close down a huge City Park named after the famous Frick family, one of the banking magnates of Pittsburgh and Secretary of the Treasury as well, to have a weekend of antique sports car races thru the city streets of a part of Pittsburgh and several laps around the park. There are always big displays of all sorts of vintage cars with many RR's (with Grey Poupon on the rear trays) and classic Benz, Jags, Porsches, Aston Martins, Alfa's, Lotus, and many many more makes. Rovers of all descriptions are there as well. Bobby Rahal puts on a big tent party each year.

Love the Rolls. Have you had any luck with the tranny yet? Pittsburgh has some awesome old school transmission specialist for parts as well as rebuilding if you need anything, I will be glad to assist with locating someone if you need it.

Franks brother-in-law let his wife take hers to Ascot for servicing. She asked them to take care of the passenger's window trim that was faded. They removed it,ent it to England for refinishing and he flipped out on the bill. At the time he hadd a dozen carpenters and cabinet makers on staff building high end homes that could have done the trim. She paid about $2500 to get it refinished.

yup, transmission is all sorted and working. just wrapping up the whacky french hydraulic brake system now. we're doing woodwork next once shes back on the road, should be nearly there after thats done!
after page 11 or so of that thread i think theres some more recent pics, and some shots of the somewhat interesting hydraulic work and whatnot.

and like you mentioned once you get to looking there is actually a really strong network of RR guys, parts places, and shops around the country who really seem to stick together! quite a community, the RROC guys are really useful as well, despite me being young enough to be their great grandkid

Well lets see, Yesteday I visited the salvage yard and pulled bunch of parts, Installed asteering gearbox, then cleaned and tightened all the steering components. After that I drove it home. Today I did the most painful job of all........I filled up the tank at $4.22 per gallon and it was on empty. Tomorrow it gets a new driver side window seal.

Got my second steering gearbox installed in a week. The second time was much faster and easier. About an hour round trip to do the job after I had all the tools laid out.
