Speedo no mo'
So I finally got around to replacing my VSS I got from rovahFarm since the weather decided to go from below freezing to mid 80s. Anyway, my vss had been having intermittent issues and causing some missing and what nots, just replaced with the new vss and I lost my speedo... Rpms finally match on my tach and UG as they were previously about 800 revs off. Any words of wisdom?!? Beeteedubs I no longer have the missing and my truck seems much happier.
rpms drive from lead on alternator. Unplug VSS and see if any difference. Usually no VSS at all equals no speedo signal. Maybe still bad VSS, just open instead of intermit short. VSS drives a small circuit board in the cluster. Guess board could be a problem as well and may have something to do with tach signal. It is calculated from alternator lead, and UG gets rpm from the ECU from the CKP sensor.
Bah. Ok then. Ill start hunting the gremlins when the boy goes down for his nap. Thanks Savannah, shall keep you posted.
Edit: I forgot to mention that my VSS that came from rovahfarm was an allmakes ybe100540 and the little gear post that sticms out was quite floppy as where my factory vss was tight and had no play.

I have my UG set for mph and I did not get a read out until I reached 5mph (when the antilock light turns off) when the UG read 4.6 mph then back to nothing. No movement on the factory speedo. I ended up swapping my factory unit back in after a good wipe down and heaping squirt of dielectric grease on the pins and I have speedo again which I always had. I hope I don't start having the misfires and such. When I pulled the new vss the shaft has a notch cut into it about halfway down. Idk if it seized up and stripped the shaft or what. Needless to say I'm not too thrilled but looks like I screwed the pooch with it's install.
