Default Speedo Transducer

Please help with transducer issue.
I have wrecked my transducer trying to service it according to the tech report.
The tech report is not to blame but only myself.
I went further than I should
Ok what is done is done!
Please tell me if the Defender 3 Point transducer will work with the Discovery 2 point VDO meter.
It seems that when I replaced my Transfer box I have received a Defender box.
Still LT 230 T though.
The Picup shaft is thicker than my original and maybe that is why my Transducer went MIA. (Wobbled furiously inside the shaft casing)
The Defender transducer will fit but will it work ?
I can not Find a Transducer for a Discovery in South Africa.
Defenders I can get.(Right on pic)

It is electronic (or electro-mechanical), in that pulses are generated. May work. Cheaper than alternatives.

As this is a US based forum, not so much on the Defender vehicles.

But pulse count may be off. Taxi cab companies have small electronic boxes that modify their pulse counts to make the taxi meter work with various cars.

But as an alternative, cheap GPS units have speed over ground. No cruise (many of us suffer without it) and no odometer (ask any Mercedes W124 owner) are not the end of the earth. Or use the GPS or known distance and time travelled to verify new unit is accurate. Here in the States we just drive 35 MPH above the posted limit and wait for a law enforcement officer with radar or pulsed laser to give us another unsafe driving award. Seriously, whatever you end up with, obviously being accurate is important.

Hi Savannah B
Thank you.
Yes, my small and cheap GPS shows the land speed and is fairly accurate.
+/- 2 km p/h difference with the Disco clock while it was working.
With us "Vica/Verca", More Defender than Discovery.
I will get a cheap transducer off a Defender and try it anyway.
Thanks again for responding.
