Default Steering gear adjuster lock nut

Well, been looking for a while now, and have had no luck finding one outside a rebuild kit. My gear is good just the seal on the bottom of the lock nut is damaged and fluid leaks out. Anyone know where you can get one alone without having to buy the rebuild kit for the thing, its for my 98 LR LSE, tried the stealership but they want to sell the entire kit for like $300.00.

Does it leak as long as you keep the nut tight? If it doesn't then you might do what I did for a friend, tighten it down, degrease the entire top of the cap and use lots of JB Weld to keep the nut tight and stop the leak.

It's been cleaned and tightened down fully, it doesn't leak outside the nut, but it leaks between the threads on the shaft directly out the top, though about using so high pressure thread sealant on the threads itself to see if that does the trick until i manage to get a new nut or buy another kit, guess having extra parts isn't to bad an idea

Might look at some teflon tape as one possibility.

Ok, came up with an idea an hour ago, and so far it's working great, will wait and see before i say it's fixed, but i made a gasket with a sheet of material for the bottom of the nut, then i used Some 10,000psi Teflon thread sealant from home depot, stuff was like peanut butter but it also acts like anti seize, then put a few drops of JB weld on the outer edge of the nut to make sure it doesn't move, torqued to spec and it's held for 15 miles driving so far, have a lot to do today so will see if it is still good tonight, thanks for the help though I do appreciate it
