Steering Lock Adjusted
I had to buy new tires for my Discovery and went with 245/75R16 Goodyear Duratracs. Because the tires are about 1 inch wider, I had to adjust the steering lock to keep the tires from rubbing against the radius arms. I did the work on jack stands.
When wheels turned full to right, adjust driver's side lockbolt. I couldn't get the exact measurement so I turned the tire to get about a 20mm space between the tire wall and the radius arm. Then I backed out the stop bolt out from the housing to just make contact with the "stop block".
Repeated on other side. I snugged up the locknut after I turned the steering wheel lock to lock a couple of times to make sure the tires did not hit the radius arms. After I lowered the truck, I rechecked. I did not get the adjustment exactly at 20mm like Rave says (sec 57 p 2 of adjustments), but the tires don't hit the radius arm at full lock.
15 min job after you find the right wrenches jack the truck up. I used a 20mm for the stop bolt and 19mm for the stop bolt locknut.
