Default ALRM/STEERING/KEY LOCK DOWN MODE

Wife's 2000 disco II is stuck at BabiesRUS. The steering wheel is locked and key will not turn. Tried resetting alarm with 3 locks/unlocks. Pulled battery. Hit ignition with Hammer(PLUS LUBRICANT). Checked Fuses. Any ideas? I saw something about the spider problem, but don't know if that relates to this. I have done many searches, but have come up empty. PLEASE HELP!

Has she parked up against a parking stop? Trying turning the wheel hard when turning the key.

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY! We have pulled on the wheel and turned the key. I also have rocked the car back and forth. It is not on a parking block. Any other ideas? Thanks,

You could try putting the T-case in neutral and rolling the car back and forth. Of course you should only try this on level ground.

Cheers,

Pete

Rock the steering wheel back and forth as you turn the key.. I am assuming that the wheel is cranked hard to one side, never do this when you park, always straighten the wheels or you can lock your steering wheel.

(2004 Disco II HSE) I just went through this. I used Graphite Powder Lubricant, and hit the ignition with a hammer and also tapped the key gently with the hammer. It worked and the car started immediately. However, the radio doesn't work, the key fob won't lock or unlock the doors and the clock has been disabled but I can drive the car....Any suggestions?
