Default Stop Light Switch

Finally got around to checking out the ABS light on our newly acquired Discovery and it is throwing a code for the stop light switch. Cant say I've ever worked on a Land Rover's electrical system but to my knowledge the "stop light switch" controls the brake lights, correct? I have brake lights and they function perfect 100% of the time so seems odd that the code is for the switch. Is there something else that little guy does that I'm missing? Anything I should try before ordering a new one?

See section / page H5 - 1 of electrical troubleshooting manual. Switch ties into lamps, ABS ECU, cruise, transmission selector interlock. Switch has two levels; pushed, and pushed harder. You can also take out the ABS fuse in the main fuse box under the hood to drop it off line while you work through other items. Some people leave it like that.
