sudden flood of rain water on passenger floor
Icannap1 - very thorough and I like the ideas of preserving this old beast. I am waiting till Monday for a paint supplier to be open and see if I can get some 2k epoxy primer in a spray can (hardener activated at the bottom of spray can) If not then I will be forced to either get cheap and just use self etching primer and hope the bondo will stick to it or head to harbor freight to get a cheap gun and mix. If I do go for the mix then it is sand the hood and cabin top time to justify buying the 2k and mix. not to mention the rear door sills.
Question! are you concerned that the flex seal may be like bed liner spray in the sense that it could trap moisture in thus bring more rust?
Thanks!

Self etching primer works good also as for flex seal I use it just about for everything I spray clear around all rubber wire door boot ends to prevent water ingress from exterior that would normally creep in as the rubber boots are 20 years old and even if you have them in good condition I still spray the clear around all wire rubber boot ends, I also sprayed clear at the seam in the area where the wiper motor is so water can flow only out of the drains. I also enlarged the drain holes, sprayed with primer, and spray flex seal instead of caulking or body seal. Flex seal sprayed lightly will be semi smooth sprayed heavily it may look like bed liner finish or use a can and brush it on for a smoother finish.
