Default Thinking of finally buying a Discovery

Looking at a 1998 Discovery in good condition with 114,000 miles. Anything I need to be aware of or ask the owner?

They are asking $4000 obo

Ive heard they feel under powered too. How do they fair with light towing?

Just would like to use the vehicle for camping & fishing trips mostly.

Thanks!!

That's probly at least 2 k to much
Have the head gaskets been done?

Everything works?

Last time all fluids changed?

Good radiator flush?

Is it stock suspension? If so probly close to wore out and sagging

Swivels and cv serviced?

U joints replaced?

This should be a good start, post your location

Big factor in value is maintenance records. These truck go to crap quick w Honda style maintenance given by most owners. If he was asking that much it had better be MINT with all maint. Records. Head gaskets had better be done. If not 114k you are on borrowed time. Tires had better be like new. No paint blemishes. Not interior rips. Cold AC. Hot heat.

I'm glad Tom said it. I feel like I am always pissing on peoples prices they are paying.

If everything was done on the truck, including the cosmetics, then 4k would be a good deal.

I know of only one stock D1 that I would value at the 4k range(maybe higher) and the owner is religious with maintenance and **** about cleaning.
