Time for new ECU??
I have a question for the group about ECU symptoms and where to source a replacement.
I have a '96 D1 with about 95k miles and I have amassed enough small issues that I think it is worthy of your collective time and input. I will try to be a complete as I can.
Recently the rear window gremlin has acted up again. A few years ago I found and followed the great post with photos et al... about removing the ECU and re-soldering the bits on the board... I did this and it has worked great until recently.
A couple of weekes ago I got after the cruise control again and replaced the hoses, which historically fixed the problem. After a few test drives and some head scratching the CC began to work. Great, but in reading all the other posts, there seems to be an issue: If I turn on the power switch after the car is started, it sets and releases fine... If I leave the power switch "on" (circuit closed) when I turn off the truck, then restart the truck and go, it won't work until I turn the switch off then back on. After that, seems to hold/release speed fine. I think this is a glitch.
This got me to thinking about how the parking lights stopped flashing when I Unlock the doors (disarm the alarm) with the remote. Occasionally, but not lately, the would not flash on Locking too, but that has not been the issues for quite a while.
Now, the latest discovery is that there is no longer temporary power to the windows after turning off the key (and before opening a door) That nice little feature that lets we parents roll up the kid's window after we turn off the truck and discover they left it open ;-)
So it is the combination of:
No Power to rear windows
Cruise Control needing to be power-cycled
Parking lights not flashing when Unlocking with Remote
Zero or intermittent temporary power to the windows after turning off ignition
That has prompted me to post.
Are all issues with the same ECU/Board that controls the rear windows? I'm fairly certain that at the cost of an Arm and Leg I could order one from the dealer, but what are my other options that this forum has been successful with before? E.G. there is that outfit in Montana (?) that will refurbish/re-solder ECU's. Any experience good or bad? How long will it take and can I drive the truck with-out that ECU?
THANK YOU in advance for yor collective help and I apologize if I have left out any important/relevant bits of info to help with the assessment.
Cheers, Tom

I am curious about the solder joints in the other ECU's since the window ECU has that as a common problem. When I first bought my Discovery 3 years ago, the small lot I got it from threw in a six month warranty that was supposed to be pretty inclusive.
I took the Disco in to Bobby Rahal LR-Jaguar-Emporium to get it checked out. They did quite a bit to it under that warranty but they wanted several hundred to replace the Window ECU. They said that was he only way to fix the window gremlins. I declined and when I got home I snatched the circuit card out and reflowed all the solder joints.
Problem resolved. I have not had any main ECU problems, but I have wondered about the integrity of it's solder joints. Anyone of you ever open one up? If anyone has a removed one and does not feel confident resoldering it, send it to me. I'll go thru it for you.
