Default TOWING (D2 behind D1

Hey all, looking to get my D1 and D2 out west from Wisconsin. Anyone have experience towing a D2 behind a D1 (4.0)? Thinking of using a flat bed trailer?

You would be better off towing the D1 with the D2 - that being said any mountain passes will be a challenge - if you can use an aluminum trailer for weight it will help 100%

I would, but the D2 is inoperable. A bit nervous about those mountain passes, but good shout on the aluminum trailer.

if you rent a Uhaul car trailer they weigh about 2250 lbs (they are not aluminum)
D2 weighs about 4500 lbs
D1 has a towing capacity near 7500 lbs
you will be right on the edge and like I said mountain passes will be tough

Please do not attempt to tow 7500lbs or even near it in a D1. These trucks are 30 years old now and unless you have had a full suspension upgrade with new bushings, new brakes, brake lines, tires, etc etc, you are taking a big risk.

agreed - and with the short wheelbase it was never a good towing option vehicle
