Default Tranny failure need help

So here's the deal: I have a v8 97 discovery. in the past month, my friend and I have changed the oil and replaced the two shocks in the front of the car. About 1 week after changing the oil, I started hearing a squeal while driving down the road, almost like the sound brakes make when there's no pad left. I replaced the brake fluid with some dot 4 and it didn't help. My brakes had already been replaced about 4 months ago so there's no way it's that. The squeal only happened when the car was accelerating or when it was going constant speed. Braking or turning often stopped it, but not always. Anyway last night my car popped itself into neutral. Twice. I had it towed and as the flatbed lifted it on my entire transmission evacuated onto the street. What could this be? Best and worst case scenario

Have you looked under the truck?
Maybe your driveshaft ujoint failed and took out your trans. This happens on D2's pretty often.

How big was the plug when you changed your oil? Was it large, like the size of a half dollar?
There's a guy I know that was about to change his oil by removing the transmission drain plug!!!! Fortunately I stopped him.

Where did it evacuate from? The pan or a crack in the case? Are you sure it's not the transfer case? Is it an automatic trans? Do you have any photos?

Not sure where it came from I haven't gotten under the truck. It's an auto trans. No photos but I can post them when I get home at about 3. I'm just looking to see what it could be.

Dude.. I'm not trying to make light of the situation (as I feel for you) but you've got to start showing your Rover some love! Maybe a name change would help? That is if you want to continue this relationship.. What Rover responds to 'MyDiscoverySucks'?! Sweet talking can and typically does help... I know, I know.. it goes both ways I'm sure it's not as bad as you think it is.

I was just about to say the same thing. A happy Rover makes a happy man. Mine is even named (Claire, because it's British) and everything!

Bro, post some pics so we can see what's going on.
