trouble with charging system
ok, i'm lost. bought my 96 and was told it needed a new alternator. tested it on the vehicle, was not charging.
replaced it. well, it still isn't charging with the new one on.
continuity to from (+) on alternator to (+) on battery is good. same with (-).
i can't find anything on the other 2 wires as to what they should be connected to, (+) or (-).
anybody got any ideas? or a copy of the electrical troubleshooting guide?
thanks
jon

Go to the "tech section" on the DI page and find the link on proper belt routing.
If the belt is routed wrong the alternator will not put out enough charge and your water pump will turn to slow.

belt is on properly. battery charged. started it up and what do you know, my tach works!!!
and i tested to alternator, putting out 14.7 volts.
a new thing to add to buying a new rover, CHECK THE BELT ROUTING!!!
thanks again,
jon
