What i hate most about my discovery
WTF, Danny? You can take that judgemental BS someplace else. You know damn well I've busted my hump tryin to fix every issue on my truck. The biggest issue at the moment is it's got bad tires, but I've got a replacement set just picked up today. It's already in better shape than when I picked it up, and it will be in even better shape when I sell it. And if you've ever looked for a Disco in my area, you'd know that $4500 is about the going rate around here. People ask $4500 for trucks in far worse condition than mine. That is, IF you can find one that's not all beat to crap.
Not trying to be judgemental at all, just stating my own opinion, Is that a sin? You said yourself it has been in the shop more than you have been able to use it.
You guys read a lot more into your interpretation of my statements than is actually there. If you are trying to get rid of a Discovery that has been a problem to you, how do you justify that kind of asking price? Just because you spent a lot on it does not mean it is worth that much at resale.
So you jump my a$$ just for being upfront with what I say. I do not understand the defensive attitudes that some you guys immediately resort to.
I think 4500 is high UNLESS it is pristine, not with issues. Are you saying all issues will be resolved prior to selling it?
Here's a comparative:
1998 Land Rover Discovery Anniversary Edition
No matter what the vehicle is, I expect a solid running vehicle for that kind of price.
Even though it is a different kind of car, I can get a pristine Lincoln Mark 6 that is one owner, garage kept, low milage, excellent condition for less than what ou expect to get for your problomatic Discovery.
Am I not entitled to my own opinion? Can I not express it without being attacked as judgemental? Think about it.

The idle issue on my Disco1 pisses me off all the time. But such is life. It hasn't left me stranded(yet). Hopefully I can get it figured out before summer of 2012 for our big vacation(driving across the country).
That's the Spirit, drive that thing cross-country! Do you have the whole summer off?
Better gets lots of addresses of fellow LR Enthusiast that may live along the way, just in case.
Plot your route and we'll make a Joint Effort to help you.
For all you new BEES.
Rover's North in their quarterly catalogue prints stories about various Rovers.
I think it was for one of the recent anniversaries, they ran an article about the RRC. It's designer (Don't recall his name) held the land speed record or some such thing from the early fifty's. He was a racecar driver and set all kind of records in Jaquars I think it was. Bobby Rahal also did the same type racing in those days.
This Gentleman, in every since of the word, was the Land Rover owners nephew or grandson (my memory is not all that great), he was an all out performance addict.
He was given the reigns of designing an updated Rover. He wanted something the rancher, field engineer, oilman (the owner) and others in the rugged professions could use all day for work and still take out on the town at night.
Go to RN site and search, the article is on there. The early RRC were beasts, since then the company went thru many changes, very few of them good.
They have a great story about the first industry test drive of the original RRC.
