Exclamation What to look out for

Im looking at a 1998 Discovery soon with 180,000 miles on the clock.

Owner says it needs and Abs sensor? Is that a know issue or could there be more to it?

Anything else to look out for

A lot of people, myself included, just disable the ABS altogether. You need to pull the ABS pump fuse from the block under the hood on the passengers side. (USA passengers, that is.) Don't remember which one at the moment, but it's one of the large ones that screws into the terminals. Watch those engine temps, overheating is all too common in these vehicles. Rent or borrow an OBDII port temp gauge if you don't already have one; the factory temp gauge is so inaccurate it's about useless.
Good luck!

1998 will be needing radiator rod out and flush, soon for a water pump and fan clutch, if plug wires are grey they need upgrade to 8mm silicone; fluids on the bottom side perhaps have seldom been changed.

I'll be replacing all coolant and a full service including gearbox and diff.

The owner said to me just today that the abs is intermittent and my need a Sender unit not an abs sensor. which to me sounds like hard expensive work BUT I may get a good deal but either way I will be getting a Disco one pretty soon
