Default What Oil Gauges are you running?

Trying to take a little better care of the Rover I just ordered a Ultra-Gauge, (don't worry I know it wont read oil pressure) and I'm looking to get an oil pressure gauge. Which ones are you running? What adapter do I need to run it and where do you have it mounted? Pictures would be great.

On a side note, about 4 months ago the Rover got hot. Didn't redline just snuck above the half way point. I shut it down and let it cool off. The Service Red light came on the next time I started it. Oil light has never come on. I do have a regular scanner and the only codes it pulled were the o2 codes. Which I already knew were a problem. I took it to a buddy of mine who works on Rovers from time to time checked the oil pressure and ran a full diagnostic and it came back good. Compression test came back good. I have changed the oil twice since and it's normal. Red light still on. I've put about 5k miles on it since the red light came on. Has always started and run normally. No ticks or noises. Any ideas on the Red light? One guy told me sometimes it'll come on as a "dealership maintenance light" but have never seen that online.

The "Oil" light is on? You're putting 7 quarts of oil in it, right?
The red "Service Engine Soon" light is just a reminder to give the dealer money and can easily be reset or removed and is nothing to worry about. The "OIL" light I'd be worried about, though.

Bogus - the red oil warning light comes on because either the switch or the wiring is shorted to ground. The switch operates at about 7 PSI.

Unplug the switch, if light goes out, the switch is bad. If not, start looking for skint wire touching metal. That spot is where you will screw in your 1/2 X 20 thread to whatever oil sender adapter you want, or use a pancake adapter that sandwiches under the oil filter.

Heres a pix, X149, bottom right photo, D1 is not so easy to get to with big hands and the oil cooler lines.

It's the Service Engine Red light. Not the Oil light. Sorry. Oil light has never come on. Maybe it was a coincidence that it happened right after it got a little hot. I'm still pretty new to the Rovers. I thought I had read any Red light is a 'S&it hit the fan' light. That's why I took it to my buddy. Do you have to take it to a dealer to get it to shut off?

Just pull out the relay. It is not important to the operation of your vehicle.

I dislike glowgauge because of their customer service and a potential inaccuracy in their measurement methods. They look good tho and may be the same as all the others. In the 96 im going with temp and oil pressure i think. i have temp already. I'm saving the ultragauge for the D2 where it can do more work.
