Default whining noise from t-case area

98 D1, just started getting whining noise when i hit 30mph, changed the fluid with heavy weight and didnt help. While its whininng, if i shift in to neutral, it goes away. With scope, the noise appears to be greatest at the parking break drum area. I put it up on stands, front and rear, independently to try and trouble shoot. I thank it may be output shaft bearing, if so, how hard of a fix and can i do it with t-case installed. Or just find another one.

The output bearing can be replaced with the TC still installed. I think there's a write up on Dweb. Some people were able to pull the old bearing with dental picks, but I had to use a slide hammer.

Finally got around to removing bearing lastnite,,pretty freaking easy. I removed the the whole output shaft casing, which included bearing and shaft. Made it alot easier seperating the shaft and bearing on a work bench versus under truck. Will report back when reinstalled

Default t-case bearing

Finally got around to reassembly today and dammit. That wasnt it. So i pulled the front bearing and shaft an it definitely feels and looks like its the culprit. Got bearing and seal on order will post back with results. Oh yea, the slide hammer worked like a champ . Just for any body else trying this. This was my attachment setup

Ha, funny to see my picture floating around still. That was the easiest way to bolt onto the transfer case without having to precisely drill a bunch of holes. That angle the case was perfectly balanced on the jack and stood on its own, made installing it easy. Still got that tool somewhere in my garage just in case.
