My death wobble was the tie rod that goes into the pitman arm. It was just loose. I tightened the nut and all was well. It's nice when a fix is that simple.

"My death wobble was the tie rod that goes into the pitman arm",
that would have been fun to find going down the highway

That's a serious issue, did you determine why the nut was loose? I've never seen a tie rod nut come loose on it's own.

I'm assuming somebody had replaced it and didn't tighten it down correctly. I was trying to find the issue by having my son turn the wheel back and forth quickly. I thought the joint was worn out until I took a closer look and realized it was just loose. I just tightened it up and put the cotter pin back in. Maybe somebody backed the nut up too much to get the pin in?

Sounds possible. Some have nylock nuts and if that was loose I'd use a new one (assuming no wear/damage to the rod end taper or drop arm). No issue reusing castellated nuts.

Oh yeah, if it was nylon I would have ditched it and got a new one. I'm not a fan of nylon nuts on the suspension. I'd much rather deal with the cotter pin and castle nut.

Ditto. The nylocks on the TRE's irritate me.

Nice!! a simple fix for once!!

Since I replaced the parts on the drivers side of the axle, everything settled down and runs right!! still have to replace the shock which is on order, and take care of the swivel ball leak on the pass side, but at least it is not a threat on the road!
