I am waiting to hear back from him. I asked if he wouldn't mind taking it back to Rovertym and having them inspect it if I pay for it. I think he's answer will be a huge indication as to the actual condition of the disco itself.

Because that solenoid does not do anything besides being a headache and costing mucho dollars to replace. Perfect example, lets say your taking your rig out to the trails..and you need 4lo cause your stuck or need to crawl up to the next level...but wait...your TC solenoid is shoot..cant get it into 4lo or N for that matter...

Now that leaves you stuck..if you have a friend he might be able to pull you out or up..if your alone in the woods 5 miles from somewhere than you have to walk or call a towing company..but most likely that towing company will not go out to you. so you have a 180-200 dollar part that can leave you standing, and that part is bound to fail again and again and again.

So that is my reason why I hate the solenoid..it serves absolutely no purpose besides for dummies that do not know not to put your transfer case in 4lo when moving.

Make sure you are present at this inspection....do not count people's word when buying a used vehicle

I think he was saying that most the time, it's the solenoid at fault, I don't think he was telling him to yank it out.

Look at his other postings, he says yank it out.

I put mine in 4 lo before I get in the bad stuff. It's all in knowing how to drive it.

Since it will go fast enough for off road in lo, why would you leave it in high off road then wait until it is stuck to grab low?

tell me one reason to keep that solenoid in if I know its going to fail and serves no purpose at all whatsoever besides having the possibility of leaving me stranded

If you cannot be there then have a impartial 3rd party take the truck to be inspected.

I am going to try and schedule something during Thanksgiving weekend since I will be close to Raleigh and should be able to be there for an inspection.
