Look, either the Land Rover is good or it's just a car that evokes some kind of elite sentimental nuance. I thought it was good enough to buy one. If I keep it, it will be because it is a damn good 4x4 not because I want to play Camel Trophy with a winch and eight hooters.
Point proven, your mind is made up, you are apparently a troll, sell your Disco (if you even actually have one), as your ownership experience will be all give and no take, you will throw money at it left and right, and you will hate it, promise me.

You asked us if it was worth it to build up a Disco but you rebut every reason we give you when we answer "YES", so what's the point?

How many station wagons does it take to pull one Land Rover out of the jungle? 37 more, and a bunch of Defenders with tools standing by to fix everything that breaks.

I'd much rather have the little Rover diesel that is weaker than all of them. Where any of this does matter is on the driveline. The GM driveline is made for 22,500lb GCVWR being pulled by 700+ ft. lbs of torque through similar gear ratios to those of the Rover (GM has 5 or 6 speed with 4.10's). Where this matters on the trail is in the fatigue strength of the axles, ring and pinion, and the carrier. The AAM units on the GM will do moderately driven trails with lockers for many, many years and never break. The stock Rover drivetrain is a wreck waiting to happen. Fatigue will kill it, it's just a matter of time. You either upgrade it proactively or wait for it to break.
My bad, I guess comparing power outputs between a 3.9L small block and a 8.1L big block is the 'in' thing to do. Just makes no sense why the dinky 3.9 can't provide the same as the barely bigger 8.1....
