Default $2 fan removal tool.....

Fan seized. Tried the rag in pulley, soak in pb blaster, heat , screwdriver locking the pulley bolts etc. Took some flat stock and drilled holes at ends. Fit with longer metric bolts, one in water pump pulley, other in power steering pully. First wack of (optional) grinded 1 1/8 wrench, job done....Hope pic download...Could get away with some strap hanger (muffler strap?) doubled or tripled over in place of flat stock....

Thanks.hole space doesn't really matter as you can move pulleys to align holes. How bout a small double ended box wrench....... 5/16-3/8 or 8mm-10mm with a washer on top....woo-hoo.....

I just put a vice grip on the pulley rest the vice grip against the bottom of the tensioner and take a whack with the hammer always works.

What an awesome idea! Never thought about that. I always just went down to the local O'Reilly and borrow the universal kit they have.

When my water pump went out I was trying to pull the old one off in Oreillys parking lot, but they didn't have a wrench in the whole place that would fit the nut on the clutch. I ended up getting the water pump bolts loose and pulling the pump out with the fan, clutch and pulley as a whole unit, without even removing the radiator. At that point, I took it inside the store and could then get a large crescent wrench on the nut and broke it loose by holding the pulley with that neat tool which is a large vice-grip with the bicycle chain that clamps and holds the object. It was expensive as all get-out but I didn't want to return it for the refund. I will need it again one day and watch it be the only tool that can get the job done!

Good use of some flat stock great idea.

1 7/16 combo wrench is a close fit for those wanting long/tall wrench to whack. Unless gorilla was last to install clutch the pulley holding tool is often not needed if good whacker is used and some pressure is applied to the belt.

I just bought the dam tool.

But I get to claim it as a tax writeoff.
