***Good Idea?***
Vin range falls within the TSB for Oil pump failure...(see attached image)
There is a risk if the engine is the original one that the pump can go anytime but at this mileage you may be safe for a good while. What do you plan to use it for? Remember....
Good luck!

- The front drive shaft MUST be rebuilt using greasable u-joints if it has not been rebuilt already or it'll punch a hole in you tranny
- They require premium gas (not an option)
- Read over Disco-Mike's 60 mile service an plan to get caught up with whatever the previous 2 owners neglected to do.
- Head gaskets may be leaking if not already.
- The 2003 DII doesn't have CDL (Lock the transfer case) so if you are planning to take if off road you will be limited in traction ability.
Good luck!

You could find one at a better price these days. I got my 03 discovery for $8,000 last year with 108,000 miles. The miles were mostly highway miles. However it was always serviced on time and regulary by land rover from the previous owner. The interior was in great shape, the exterior was in good condition besides a scratch on the drivers side door. It has dual sunroofs, plus it was my fav color. This was considered a fair deal at the time when we were looking for a discovery, which Dec 07, Jan 08.
Just recently on auto trader I found a silver 03 discovery SE, dual sunroofs, everything, including a brush guard for $6999, with like 80,000 miles. My advice is keep searching.

Since it's in the VIN range, as metioned, I would say bad idea. Try to find another one that not in the "problem zone". Also, you can find cheaper! Do alot of research, you'll find alot of well priced discos. Dont be afraid to search a state over, sometimes thats how you can find the best deals, and it will be worth the drive.
