A\C Issues
I have a 96 Disco SE7 with Rear Air. My air was not working so I got a gauge set and 2 cans of freon. I filled it to 40psi and the temp of the air 0nly goes down to 80 degrees on high. Checked against my neigbors and he gets down to 66 degrees at the same 40 psi. What else can I check. This has a new rad put in yesterday and I cleaned everything out of there that would cause blocakage. Thanks for any help!
The front and rear are blowing at about 80 degrees. Before I added freon it was blowing about 90 degrees front and back. Its cooler but definatly not right. The front fans do come on. Thanks
Ok, if the electric fans are coming on then you need to look at the compressor or the evaporator. You might need to take it in to a shop. Did you try cleaning your condensor with the garden hose?
With the trk off take your hose and rise the radiator from under the hood out towards the front and then from the outside in. If it is dirty then air cannot flow past very well and then it wont work well.
Thats all I have, sorry I cant help more.

No it was not. I got this about three months ago. I have had to due head gasets, fan clutch, rad was completely shot. Complete tune up, almost completely new suspension, new CV joint on driver side, still need to do springs. And a million other little things. What would you start with compressor or condensor? I cant find a reasonable shop in the area, for what they want to just look at it I could almost replace the whole system. Thanks
You don't need to find a Land Rover shop Any auto air conditioner shop can do all repair on your Discovery air conditioner. Automobile Air Conditioning is all fairly common parts, and the mechanical functions and how they work are identical regardless of whether you have a Buick or a Land Rover. It is possible that your system has air and moisture in it, and needs to be put on a vacuum pump for a few hours to draw down vacuum and remove internal moisture. Just a modest amount of internal moisture or air contamination can cause the symptoms you describe. Your radiator would have to be extremely dirty to affect performance THAT much. A common air conditioning service should cost $100 or less if no parts are needed.
Do your self a favor, stop working on it and go back to the basics.
Suck the system down, see how much you get out and measure that against what should be in there. If the level is right, check for plugged orifice filter.
If this is Greek to you, get it into a shop and have it tested properly.
