Default ‘02 D2 throwing CPS code

I was on the interstate the other day when my car starting “bucking” when it shifted. For a few minutes, I thought nothing of it, until I went into limp mode in the fast lane of I-75. I managed to get to the side of the road and plug in my code reader, which came back with a CPS code (P0338, I believe.) What grinds my gears is that I had the CPS on my car replaced professionally less than a year ago. Could it be loose wiring or something of the sort?

It could almost always be "loose wiring" in a Land Rover! Sometimes this code is thrown if you have bad (low) system voltage, so the easiest/first thing is to check is your battery voltage. Then check the wiring, getting to the CPS sensor plug is a bit of a pain but you may want to try and re-seat the connector. A P0338 code is a wiring short to positive, so there might be an exposed wire to a positive source. Of course it could always be a bad CPS, you wouldn't be the first guy to have one go out in short order. I know replacing a CPS is a bit of a pain, but it's not technically difficult or particularly expensive ($47 from Amazon), you need more resolve than anything else! It may be worth getting a new one and replacing it yourself, it might cost you twice as much just to have a tech take a look at it.

Another thing that might be wrong (but unlikely) is a damaged flywheel- the CPS might be doing its job, but reading from a broken flywheel and throwing the code.
