‘04 charcoal canister question
Been getting a persistent P0441 code as of late. Truck runs great.
New purge valve at time of engine rebuild about 8K ago. New connector for purge valve soldered in. New vacuum lines. New genuine gas cap.
How should I check the charcoal canister for proper function? It is original with over 280K. No issues filling the tank (other than $6/gal) or fuel smell.
Thanks,

Same code. Got it pretty often on both my 2002 and 2004 and happens whenever it gets warmer than normal outside. Not sure if there's a correlation there. Same same replacements as you. Just decided to live with it until maybe someday stumbling upon the fix.
My P38 acts the same way regarding weather. P0440 comes back in the summer. Not so much in the winter.

That 04 is sensitive to pressure change. Code triggers when at altatude for a while, refuel at altitiude change, sometimes refuel at < half a tank(this may be related to the external temps). From what I can tell it always goes about 3 days after initial potential code is thrown. Seems like it wont let go of the code even if its not being triggered any more. I suspect its a loose fitting breather tube, but have not had any time, or energy in this heat to test.
I should get a barometer and take notes.

As 04disco2va said, take it out and see if there is any fluids in it and that its not blocked up.

When you do the Hyundai Purge Control valve it MUST be the OEM Genuine Hyundai part. The units from BWD, Dorman, and other aftermarket = pure junk. I have yet to ever have a Genuine Hyundai Purge Control Valve fail or act up on any LR I have installed one on. All of my D2's are using them as well.
