Thanks, Umimoged.

I've gotten so frustrated since I'm $4k deep into this (plus another K for other) and it seems like a bizillion hours. Thought I was doing the right thingtrying to keep another rig from going to "parts".What your saying makes sense. I will pull the front cover tomorrow and update my post.

You will fix it I am sure and at the end you will have a very nice setup. Timing is tricky sometimes, so I am sure you have a repair manual with instructions and a diagram that you are following. Also, if I recall, you mention an aftermarket cam, is this an adjustable cam that allows you to vary the position of the cam sprocket on the cam itself?

Paul,
When did you have the rebuild done, was it by Rover, has it been within the 1 year warranty?

Thank you for the encouragement. I'm using a full hard copy LR manual - didn't know about Rave when I picked it up. As to the cam, the sprocket was keyed so I believe there was no adjustment.

Mike,

The heads were rebuilt by LR of Dallas (I'm sure they sub them out to a separate shop). They were done last summer and as mentioned I've only got about 500 miles on them.

Well consider you should have a 1 year warranty to fall back onto if inn fact it is related to any of Rovers work.

Default RE: 01 Disco I II running rough w/code - Update

Opened it up last night - crank and cam are lined up correctly. Spoke with cam provider who agrees that this sounds like a cam alignment issue but asked me to pull the rocker arms and pressure test the cylinders to ensure they hold pressure - reasonable request as I would have to go there to pull the cam anyway.

Will update after doing that - good thing this is third vehicle....
