i almost forgot i, he plugged his scanner in it and a fault code p-1835 or somthing i wrote it down somewere but cant find it. it said loss of power

It is not the cam sensor, it is the crank sensor.

Its your money, replace what you want.

I would replace the crank sensor.

Thanks for all the help put a new one in and it runs just fine.

a new crank sensor. I think my head gasket is leaking coolant on it and shorted it out

Crank sensor is for spark and cam sensor is for injectors.
Replace your crank sensor and it will run just fine.
I have heard that AutoZone has them for $60.
Drivers side of engine, half way down at the bell housing.
Boy, did I turn that one around, sorry.

That is one of the biggest causes of failin crank sensors, might want to try tightening you v/c gaslet bolts a little bit, that will often stop the leak.
