01' Wont start - crank but no fuel or spark
So i have read many threads offering solutions to this problem. I came out to start the vehicle and out of nowhere it would not start. New battery about a month ago. So it will crank just fin but never get a start and doesnt seem like its getting any fuel. Tried starter fluid but it still would not catch. After pooring over threads I finally just went and got a code reader.
I get the code
P1673 Land Rover Immobiliser - incorrect codeDrive cycle A:Signal out of range - below minimum
Now i cant find much information on this except that everyone seems to be having problesm with the immobilser.
Aslo I should note that about 3 days before this happend my left front driver Window Regulator broke and i had not had time to take the door panel off to repair before this happened.
Also for as long as i can remember the key fobs will not unlock the driver door or the passenger door but other than being annoying this never bothered me.
I have read online that the central locking mech could be the problem in the door. Other than have it towed out to the worst land rover dealrship in the country and have then play with it. Can anyone suggest a fix. I am not mechanically dumb and am capable of simple fixes.
I cannot find my EKA code but why would i need that if both key fobs work and arm and disarmt eh system(i can tell by the red sash lights and the fact that they lock and unlock the doors(well they lock all the doors but only unlock the back two.)
Thanks in advance for any help

That code actually means:
P1673:
Engine anti-theft signal new engine control module not configured
or
New ECM fitted.
Sounds like somehow the engine computer (ECM) lost it's security sync with the BCU. If nothing is broken, you'll have to get someone with a special computer to sync them back up. If something is broken, you'll have to replace whatever it is and then maybe still get it resync'ed.

Thank for clearing up the code for me. Teach me to trust the reason the code reader gave, Ive been thinking its the immobiliser this whole time. I guess I have no choice to have it towed. Lucky for me I called some foreign car shops in town and found a place that has a landy computer and says they can hook it up and re sync.
One question. You said the word somehow. Could the somehow be that the ECU is bad? or would i give me a different code?
I truly appreciate your help.

It's weird for it to lose it's code. Makes me wonder if something happened to the computer. If it won't sync, I'd do more troubleshooting. I have a BCU that got wet and it would no longer talk to the ECM. It gave a different, but similar code, because the ECM already had a sync, but could no longer talk to the BCU to verify it was the same.
Fortunately if one of the computers is bad, they are pretty cheap for used ones.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - V8 DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 18-2-53 Function
With the ECM operating in the 'New' state, TestBook is required to instruct the ECM to learn the new BCU code. If the
ECM is in delivery state (i.e. direct from the supplier), it will not run the vehicle and will store a new ECM fault code
when it is fitted. This code must be cleared after instructing the ECM to learn the BCU code using TestBook. When the ECM is in the 'Secure' state, no further action is required as the ECM has successfully learned the BCU
code. A 'Secure' ECM can not be configured to a 'No Code' state. If the vehicle is fitted with an ECM with a valid code, the engine will start and the MIL will go out. However, if the ECM has an invalid BCU security code the engine will crank, start, and then immediately stall. The
status of the security system can only be interrogated using TestBook.
This is what my workshop manual says about the fact that the car sees a "new" ECU. My question is then do i have to go to the actual land rover dealer because they will have testbook?

Thanks you very much for all your help. Land rover forums again to the rescue. The shop I found has an auto logic system. Ive had minor problems with the disco since I got it.(3 amigos, Throttle body deicer, Front drive shaft, Stereo) I try to fix everything I can work on myself. I always hate resorting to the dealership. The computer is one thing i cannot do. Thanks again.
So after having it towed to a shop with an Auto Logic computer all they had to do was re sync the ECU and the car started right up. Thanks for the help Jafir and hope this helps anyone looking at the code p1673 I had on my 01 disco. Dont know how the comp became unsynced but glad its running. Cheers.
