Which harness did you splice into?
DM: my t-case looks just like that one in your pic. Mine has a switch where yours has the yellow tape.
Is the dash light just a reminder or is it vital for the ECM? Can I just leave it unhooked?
Thanks for all the help so far.

Oh yeah, my front DS has been rebuilt. All u-joints are grease-able.
The PO took care of a lot of maintenance needs.
I didn't swap entire cases, just the front nose. So all my switches are still in place and I've added the CDL to the mix.
Thanks again

Thanks for the link. It's very helpful. I won't be home until Friday. I'll post back this weekend once it's all buttoned up.

All is well with my CDL installation. Even the dash light works. I tested it in the driveway by driving with the front driveshaft out. Everything seemed to operate properly.
All in all, I'm into my CDL $140 not including fresh oil. Not too bad.
Thanks to everyone, I couldn't have done it without the help.

I'm having a little issue with my CDL dash light. It wants to illuminate and chime even when it isn't locked. Am I not shifting it correctly? When locked, the light stays on. When I unlock the diff, the light goes out, then comes back on and chimes randomly.
Is it as simple as a sticky switch? If I unplug the switch, will that affect anything?
Thanks
Is

hi, so I just installed a tc from a defender td5. I found the black/blue wire i need to splice but I also saw two connectors coming out from that same harness which are not connected to anything. Anyone knows what the black/green wire on that harness is? I was thinking of using that for my cdl wiring, rather than passing new wires... i mean it is not connected to anything, anyway.

Super old thread, but when I did the CDL in my ‘00, after a trainload of research and other nonsense, I came to realize there was zero wiring to do. The wiring on the ‘04 CDL I installed was to the health and safety plunger to keep you from doing something stupid.

With zero wiring, zero programming and zero programming or changing out of the SLABS, the light goes on and off on the dash.
